Not everyone wants to wait around for a delivery window. If you have a car and you live in or near the city, collecting the speaker yourself is often the quickest route to sound, and usually the cheapest one too. You choose the moment, you carry it out the door, and you are on your way.

This page walks you through what picking up actually involves: how the handover goes, which models slot into an ordinary car, and a few things worth sorting out before you drive over. No surprises when you arrive, that is the idea.

How collection works

Reserve the speaker you want through the site, or drop us a message. Once your booking is confirmed, we agree on a pickup time. You come by, we run through the set together in a minute or two, you sign off, and you leave with kit that is already tested and working. If you have questions about connecting or controlling it, that is the moment to ask.

Between rentals we keep the gear in shape: batteries charged, cables all present, speakers clean and checked. So when you collect, you can trust that the set you carry out actually performs. That takes a lot of guesswork out of the day itself.

What to bring when you collect

Worth having ready:

• A valid form of ID.
• Your booking confirmation, on your phone is fine.
• Enough boot space (more on that below).
• Maybe a blanket to stop the speaker sliding around while you drive.

That is the whole list. We keep the barrier low on purpose, because most people collecting from us want to get back and start setting up their evening.

Which speakers fit in your car?

The question we hear most at pickup: will this actually fit in my car? It depends on the model, but it is rarely a problem. The JBL PartyBox 310 is compact and easy to lift solo, so it drops straight into the back of a hatchback. The PartyBox Ultimate and the Soundboks 3 are bigger, yet with the rear seats folded flat they slide neatly into most estate cars or taller hatchbacks.

Going for a full PA? The speaker set for 100 people comes as several parts with an 18-inch subwoofer, plus stands. That needs a roomier vehicle, or a second trip. If you are not sure it will fit, tell us what car you drive when you book and we will help you judge which set is realistic to transport yourself.

A quick measure before you drive over

If it is borderline, measure the load space. The width between the wheel arches and the height to the parcel shelf are usually the limiting factors, not the length. A single PartyBox goes in lying down, with stands and a subwoofer tucked alongside. Driving a small city car? Lean toward a battery model rather than a full PA, so you skip the hassle and avoid a double trip.

Battery or mains

For the drive it makes no difference, but for your event it does. The PartyBox 310, the PartyBox Ultimate and the Soundboks 3 run on a built-in battery, so they play happily without a socket, in a garden or a park for example. The PartyBox 710 and the larger PA sets need mains power. Before you take a mains model home, check there is a socket within reach at your venue.

Why collect instead of having it delivered

Delivery is convenient, but collection has its perks. You set the timing, you skip the delivery fee, and you have the speaker exactly when you want it rather than inside a window. For a party that kicks off tonight, picking it up yourself is often the only way to have sound ready in time.

Live in Oog in Al, Wittevrouwen, Leidsche Rijn or one of the nearby villages? The trip is usually short. And because you get your hands on the gear straight away, you can test that everything behaves before you pull out of the parking spot. If a cable or the pairing acts up, we swap it there and then, not once you are already home.

Good to know before you arrive

A few tips from experience. Lay the speaker down or wedge it in securely rather than leaving it standing loose, so a hard brake does not tip it over. Keep the cables and stand in a separate bag or box and nothing goes missing. And if the controls are new to you, ask during the handover; in a minute we will show you how to pair over Bluetooth and how to bring the volume up cleanly without it distorting.

Try not to schedule your pickup too tight against your event, either. An hour of slack takes the pressure off: you can set up calmly, cue your playlist and run a quick test, instead of scrambling while the first guests walk in. Bring a second pair of hands if you can; a larger box is far easier to load with someone helping than on your own.

Bringing it back is as easy as collecting it. You return everything at the agreed time, we give the set a quick check, and you are done. Coil the cables loosely and try not to leave the batteries sitting flat; beyond that, no scrubbing required. Running late? For private hosts and businesses alike

Collection works just as well for a birthday at home as for an office social or a club night. Business customers often pick up themselves because it is nimble: swing by on the way in, take sound for the Friday drinks, drop it back on Monday. Which model is easiest to collect?

When you collect yourself, it is not only the sound that counts but how easily the thing lifts and travels. For a birthday at home or drinks in the garden, the PartyBox 310 is the simplest call: light, battery-powered and carried in without ceremony. Want more volume for a group nearer fifty? The PartyBox 710 is the natural step up, though it does need a socket at your venue. Celebrating outside and want to stay free of cables? The Soundboks 3 hits hard with nothing plugged in. Stuck between two models? Describe your space and how many guests are coming, and we will point you to the set you can carry off without a struggle. A model with a bit of room to breathe beats a box you have to run flat out all night.

Frequently asked questions about picking up a speaker in Utrecht

Can I collect a speaker on the same day I book?

Often yes, as long as the model you want is free. Send us a message with what you need and the time you have in mind, and we will let you know quickly whether it works. The earlier you flag it, the better the odds your first choice is still on the shelf.

Will I be shown how to operate it?

Yes. During the handover we run through the basics: powering on, pairing and building the volume. If you get stuck once you are home, we are reachable on WhatsApp for a quick question.

What happens if the speaker does not fit my car?

Let us know your vehicle in advance and we will match the model to it. If a set really is too big, we look together at a more compact option or at delivery instead. You will not be left empty-handed.

Can I grab a microphone at the same time?

Absolutely. If someone is giving a speech or you fancy karaoke, add the wireless microphone set or a Shure SM58 to your booking and take it along with the speaker in one go.

Is there a deposit when I collect?

It varies by set and by rental length. We tell you exactly what applies to your choice when you book, so there is nothing unexpected waiting at the counter. Ask ahead and we will lay it out.

Can I pick up outside office hours?

We try to work around your schedule. Mention the time that suits you when you reserve, and we will look for a pickup slot that fits us both. Early evenings and weekends are often on the table.

Does the speaker need to come back cleaned?

Ordinary use is fine, no need to polish anything. Just coil the cables loosely and make sure every part is back in the bag or box it came in. If something broke or went missing, tell us and we will sort it without any fuss.
